The unique thing about christmas is that its celebrated all over the world, transcending race, language and geography. Christmas is coming real soon and its time to start getting more and more into e mood. Below are several carols taken from all over the world. Not many of you may be familiar with them as they are not ur usual jingle bells etc. But they are very beautiful carols. Pay attention to the lyrics and think of the context of the geographical area that it came from. For me personally, the one from aus particularly produced a sort of feeling in my heart when i first heard it. I dont really know how to say it...it wasnt really e lyrics, more like the whole song in totality. (Note: For e french & uruguayan carols, some of e letters are missing e 'hanyu pinyin' symbols on top as i dont know how to put them in, so my apologies for that) Here they are:
AUSTRALIA
SOMEDAY THERE'LL BE PEACE ON EARTH
Someday there'll be peace on earth,
Peace from shore to shore;
No more armies locked in battle,
For there'll be no more war!
Someday there'll be peace on earth-
That's the hope that Christmas brings:
When Jesus returns, as He promised,
When Jesus returns, as He promised,
To reign as King of Kings!
Reds and yellows, blacks and browns,
Living with whites in unwalled towns;
Kindness and love for anger and frowns.
Swords into plowshares will be turned,
Hate and suspicion-they'll not be learned;
Cities no more will be sacked and burned:
There will be peace on earth.

A CHINESE CHRISTMAS CRADLE SONG - arranged by Frances Roots Hadden
Green, green the riverside grasses, Shiao Bao Bao!
Fair, fair the Mother and Baby! Shiao Bao Bao!
Cold Cold the hay in the manger, Shiao Bao Bao!
Warm Warm the light of the shining Star!
Bold Bold the Sheperds shouting
"A Saviour! Come! Come and see the Baby!
Oh, Come!"
Swift swift the people are rushing to see Him;
Sure sure the gift of freedom for all!
Dark dark the world around Him,
Oh, wonder!
Hush! hush, the Holy Baby asleep!
Green, green the riverside grasses, Shiao Bao Bao!
Fair, fair the Mother and Baby, Shiao Bao Bao!

IL EST NE LE DIVIN ENFANT - arranged by John Rutter
ll est ne le divin enfant,
Jouez hautbois, resonnez musettes;
ll est ne le divin enfant,
Chantons tous son avenement.
Depuis plus de quatre mille ans
Nous le promettaient les prophetes
Depuis plus de quatre mille ans
Nous attendions cet heureux temps.

BENDITO EL REY - Homero Perera
Bendito el Rey que vienne en el nombre del Senor!
Alzad, alzad las puertas del duro corazon!
No viene revestido de su ropaje real:
su tunica es de sievo, tal es su humildad.
Blest be the King whose coming is in the name of God!
For him let doors be opened, no hearts against him barred!
Not robbed in royal splendour,
in power and pomp, come he:
but clads as are the poorest, such his humility!
Blest be the King whose coming is in the name of God!
By those who truly listen his voice is truly heard.
Pity the proud and haughty, who have not learned to heed,
the Christ who is the Promise and has our ransom paid.
